They say that if you are told not to do something you automatically feel compelled to do just that- break the rules as it were. The adventurous and inquisitive beast inside you will suddenly spring up, scampering about your mind, not resting until you realise the concequences of your 'lawless' actions.
A photography lecturer taught me to never point my camera lens at the sun. I therefore cycled to the city of York and pointed my lens at the object I was told to deter.
The lesson from this lecturer? Creativity is excedingly more effective if you follow your own rules.
